By default, in DMR mode, are displayed only the ID of the participants, in conversations. You can manually create a list with aliases, in Talk Groups or you can import the lists available on Internet.
There are two important differences between these options:
Using your manually edited list, with aliases, allows you selection of the desired ID, for a private call. But, you have to spend time to add new entries;
Using an imported list from Internet is the fastest way to have, at any time, the name and the callsign of almost any participant. But, this imported lists are not visible in your transceiver, so you will not be able to use an entry for a private call.
So, will be very useful to have both options: start with an imported Digital Contact List, downloded from Internet and, anytime you have an important corespondent, edit your own agenda in Talk Groups on the transceiver.
Now, how can be imported an existing Digital Contact List ? First, download a compatible list, for example from the following site: https://kf5iw.com/contactdb.php. Unzip the downloaded file, start the Anytone's CPS configuration software and access the Tool menu, followed by Import feature.
On the left side of the opened window, search and press the button Digital Contact List. In the next open dialog window, choose and open the unzipped CSV file. Press Import button and wait the application to perform the action. For large World Wide lists, this can takes one or two minutes.
Finally, connect your transceiver to the computer, using the provided USB cable, select the right COM port and start writing to the radio, after you checked the Digital Contact List in the Write Objects dialog box. Again, for large contact lists, this operation can takes more than 5 minutes.
