Preparing for first SOTA activation
Hot WX continues to hang over YO, so I will take advantage to reach a SOTA location (MC-222) at 2000 m altitude. This choice is not random, the distance I have to travel by train to the nearest city is short (traveling by train in YO is not an easy thing) and it is at the same time a POTA location, RO-1155.
I'm preparing a backpack with the bare essentials for an activity of approximately 5-6 hours, in CW and FT4/8: FT-891, 5 m telescopic antenna (so I will start in 14 Mhz and going to upper frequencies), two small Li-Ion batteries at 16Ah each and a LiFePo4 backup battery at 12 Ah. I know that the landscape from that point is special, so I will eventually try SSTV images transmission. That's why I thought it was worth carrying the larger LiFePo4 battery.
